Book nook

Bookstore and Souvenirs

The Saulaine bookstore, specializing in used books in Latvian, has thousands of books of theology and Latvian literature, including many out of print editions.

This is a unique fundraising initiative with all books donated to Saulaine, all the work is done by volunteers, and all donations for books go towards the upkeep of Saulaine.

Please contact Kristine Stivrins, to donate or find a title you want.

Saulaine Wilderness

Expansive Wilderness

Enjoy recreational activities; volleyball, basketball, football/soccer, hiking, swimming in the river, angling and in the winter, cross-country skiing on our property in the Nottawasaga River valley. Saulaine is also close to Collingwood’s excellent ski hills.

For your comfort, stay in the Dorm or motel style rooms in the summer, and the Main House all year round.

Unserviced short term campground sites near the river and swimming spots are available. No potable water, washrooms, or electricity is available in this area, but a “porta-potty” is in place during the season and can be arranged for special events at other times.

The Nottawasaga River is a serene and enchanting area popular with licensed anglers. Catch and release only, by law.

If you are not a St. John’s congregation member, a day pass or season pass can be purchased from the Superintendent, Richards Urdzins on site.
