Stay at Beautiful Saulaine

Saulaine Family Camp Out July 10-24, 2021. Teltošanas nedelas Saulainē! In place of summer camp, we have reserved our two weeks for families to camp or glamp out by the river, or to rent one of our newly renovated motel rooms! The Manse or the Barracks may be rented out by a larger family or group that meets Ontario covid regulations in July. Daily, volunteer-led activities will be offered for kids and adults at a small cost. Bookings will be made on a first come first served basis. Don't miss out! Sanāksim. Please note: This is not a day or overnight camp and we do not offer babysitting. Some informal activities will be offered. Swimming safety is each family’s responsibility. For overnight stay you must be 19 years old or older or accompanied by an adult. Due to covid restrictions, food is the responsibility of individual families.

The Property

Saulaine is a wide, wandering property of fields, forest and clay cliffs nestled on the Nottawasaga River. There are flower meadow trails down to the river, and walking paths through the fern and cedar forests. A simple road leads down to the riverside camping area that is an restorative place to stay for couples, families and groups. You can also stay in our variety of cozy rooms across from the Sun Barn, swim in the river, host a late night campfire or celebrate a wedding.

Saulaine, established in 1952, is St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Latvian Church of Toronto’s Christian retreat  centre. Rooted in the Lutheran Latvian Christian tradition and building on the history of the Latvian Lutheran community in the Toronto area, we value:

The property is available year-round for religious retreats, social functions, concerts and other outdoor events. This beautiful country property is located on the Nottawasaga River about 90 minutes north of Toronto and 20 minutes south of Barrie, Ontario.
